Call it a spook-tacular event.
The Mercyhurst softball and baseball teams will play a 100-inning game for charity Friday at the Mercyhurst Baseball Field. The Halloween-themed game is a tradition for the past 10 seasons for the Lakers baseball team. In a twist this year, the baseball players challenged the softball team to play against them.
Both teams will compete against one another for 100 innings in a game starting at 10 a.m. The players will be dressed up in Halloween costumes and will hand out candy while music plays until all 100 innings are completed.
Each team is using the game as a fundraiser for the Special Olympics with hopes to raise money for the Polar Plunge. Donations also will benefit the baseball and softball programs.
As a bonus, all fans who are in attendance to support the cause will get a few at-bats during the game.
